EUSEBIUS c.263 - c.339 Bishop of Palestine Eusebius of Caesarea was the principal of a school of theology in Palestine. He wrote a history of the first four centuries of the Catholic Church and also a history of the world. He played a leading role in the controversy over Arianism, for he gave refuge to Arius , who had been accused of heresy. Eusebius was temporarily excommunicated but finally accepted the doctrinal position of the Council of Nicaea. |
