Stephen Dushan expanded the territory of Serbia at the expense of a Byzantine empire that suffered under Turkish assault. In several wars with the Byzantines he added Macedonia, Albania and parts of Greece to Serbia and in 1345 assumed the title 'Emperor of the Serbs and Greeks'
