ARMIN 18 B.C. - A.D. 21 Germanic tribal leader Armin (or Arminius) united several Germanic tribes and defeated three Roman legions in the battle of the Teutoburg forest ( Black Forest ) in A.D. 9, which led to the loss of the province "Germania" for the Roman empire.
Armin was also involved in tribal warfare with the Marcomanni. Although
he was murdered by his own people Armin became in subsequent centuries
a German national hero.
