CRASSUS c. 115 - 53 BC Roman Politician Marcus Licinius Crassus was a speculative money-lender, who became the richest man in Rome. He financed the political campaigns of Caesar. As praetor he crushed the revolt of Spartacus in 71 BC. In 60 BC Crassus formed the first Triumvirate with Caesar and Pompey. He died in Asia Minor while fighting the Parthians. |
