TIGLATH-PILESER III c.774 - 727 BC King of Assyria Tiglath-Pileser was an able warrior and administrator who laid the foundation of the late Assyrian empire. Before his reign Assyria was threatened by stronger external enemies, but Tiglath-Pileser succeeeded in subjecting Syria and Palestine, and he merged the kingdoms of Babylonia and Assyria in his own person. He introduced the policy of trans-planting the populations of the conquered lands.
Tiglath-Pileser III's conquests and reforms
led to the establishment of the Neo-Assyrian Kingdom as a true empire.
