ESARHADON c.713 - c.669 BC King of Assyria Eshardon was governor of Babylon after it was sacked by the Assyian army. When his father, king Sennacherib, was murdered by Eshardon's brothers, Eshardon immediatly marched to the capital Niniveh to suppress the rebellion and seize the throne.
As king Eshardon ordered the rebuilding of Babylon, conquered Egypt
and achieved the greatest territorial expansion of the Assyrian empire.
