BIMBISARA c. 558 - 491 BC King of Magadha Bimbisara was one of the early kings of the Indian kingdom of Magadha. Bimbisara's expansion of the kingdom is considered to have laid the foundations for the later expansion of the Maurya Empire.
He was a friend of Jina (Founder of Jainism
in India) and a protector of Buddha. The king's support made
Buddhism a popular movement in India.
