PISANO c.1213 - c.1280 Italian Sculptor (ev. 1250-1315)
Nicola Pisano was one of the most important Italian sculptors of the 13th century who worked in Pisa and Siena, Tuscany. He introduced a classical style inspired by the art of antiquity into Italian medieval art. He built the pulpit for the Pisa cathedral baptistry, and the fountain in the piazza of Siena and over 50 reliefs in many cities in Tuscany. |
