PADMA c.717 - c.778 Indian Theologian Padma, or Padmasambhava, also called Guru Rimboche was a Buddhist mystic who taught at Nalanda, a centre for Buddhist learning in India.
In 747 he was invited to Tibet where he combined local religious faith
with Buddhist ideas and became the founder of Lamaism. He is credited
with establishing the first Buddhist monastery in Tibet.
