PLUTARCH c.47 - c.120 Greeek Historian Plutarch was born in Greece, studied philosophy in Athens, and traveled through Italy and Egypt. On his travels he collected facts about men he wrote in his most famous work 'The Lives of Illustrious Greeks and Romans'. As biographer, historian, essayist and moralist, Plutarch was one of the most influential writers who ever lived. The 'Lives' present sharply defined character sketches and Shakespeare used this work as a source of many of his historical plays. |
