ASCLEPIADES c.129 - 40 BC Greek Physician Asclepiades of Bithynia established Greek medicine in Rome. Asclepiades taught that all diseases occur because of an imbalance in the natural harmony of the human body. His doctrine of constricted or relaxed conditions of solid particles derived from the atomic theory of the philosopher Democritos.
Asclepiades advocated human treatment of
mental disorders, he had insane persons freed from con-finement
and treated them with natural therapy, such as diet and massages.
