Aristotle is considered one of the greatest thinkers the world
has known. He influenced the orientation and content of all that is termed
Western civilization. (see : Greek Philosophy )
Aristotle was born in Stagira, to the north of Greece. He went
to Athens to study under Plato for 20 years.
After Alexander conquered Persia, he supported Aristotle's scientific researchers with grants of money. After Alexander died Aristotle withdrew to Chalcis,
north of Athens, where he died the following year.
