To Northern View Concept for a Treetower Back to Author Vertical gardens around porches facing south & west of a model showing 6 floors of a projected 28-story building originally proposed for the Coal Harbour site in Vancouver. The large secluded porches provide a sense of intimate foreground an amenity which is yet missing in traditional highrise buildings. Planter boxes provide the basis for plants shading the living areas from sun and noise. The vertical gardens would also cool the surrounding streets and they would make air-conditioning unnecessary in a temperate climate. Model photo 1995 |
