SENECA c.4 BC - A.D. 65 Roman Philosopher Seneca was born in Cordoba, Spain, and practiced law and rhetoric in Rome. In his philosophic essays he taught the Stoic principle that virtue consisted in a will which is in agreement with nature. Seneca became the tutor of Nero, the future emperor. For a few years Seneca was able to control his pupil but in A.D. 65 Nero forced him to commit suicide. |
